Springmoor Marks Quarter-Century of Innovation; Celebrates with Month of 25th Anniversary Events

Making its debut in 1984 as the first life care retirement community in Raleigh-and one of the first in the state-Springmoor now marks its 25th year in operation with the distinction of being the largest of its kind in North Carolina. Springmoor will salute this success with a month of spirited 25th anniversary celebrations, all part of a special series of events starting in September.

The celebration will offer a series of public and private social and charitable events during September and early October to show appreciation to residents and the local community. It will also familiarize a new generation of Raleigh citizens with a local retirement landmark.

"More than 25 years ago, my father, Jud Ammons, saw a new way to meet the needs of seniors based on an innovative approach to combining an active retirement lifestyle with health services as needed," said David Ammons, CEO of Springmoor. "Continuing to look for newer and better ways to serve seniors has been the secret to our success."

While being the first to bring a life care continuing care retirement community (CCRC) to Raleigh, Springmoor has also continued to evolve its service to seniors to track with the changing expectations associated with successful aging in America. The "graying of America" has created a new wave of seniors who now see retirement as a fresh and exciting phase of life, and Springmoor works to deliver on those expectations.

For example, Springmoor residents today are as likely to enjoy a computer-aided sporting contest as they are to enjoy a game of bridge. They are as likely to be involved in community outreach as they are to share private social occasions. Many are as eager to ride on the back of a motorcycle as they are to stroll the green grounds of their campus.

Springmoor's 25th Anniversary Celebration will offer a range of events that celebrate the Springmoor tradition of bringing innovative lifestyle choices to seniors while revealing some of the new shapes that those lifestyles are taking. Springmoor has developed a complete schedule of events to be held at the community, including the following:

-September 10 - 25th Anniversary Kick Off Party for Springmoor Residents
-September 10 - 25th Anniversary Kick Off Party for Stewart Health Center Residents
